Our Health Program provides free legal advice and representation to individuals in Santa Clara County who identify as living with mental health disabilities. We also provide free legal help to patients of Valley Homeless Health Program, SCVMC Valley Specialty Center Clinics, Valley Health Center Downtown Clinic, Gender Health Center, and to individuals experiencing homelessness in Santa Clara County.

For eligible individuals, our legal services include:

  • Public benefits matters including reductions, overpayments and terminations of Social Security (SSI/SSDI), Medi-Cal, Medicare, CalWORKS, CalFresh (food stamps), CAPI, General Assistance (GA)

  • Reasonable accommodation to access benefits programs

  • Investigation of allegations of abuse or denial of rights at mental health facilities

  • Advocacy for access to county mental health services

  • Advocacy for access to mental health treatment in the county jails

  • Assistance with name and gender marker to align with gender identity through Pro Bono Clinic

  • Investigate sweeps of individuals’ property

  • Limited counsel & advice for debtor’s rights issues/creditor harassments

Community-Driven Advocacy

Law Foundation of Silicon Valley is interested in pursuing further legal advocacy that centers the needs of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrant/refugee, unhoused, and other historically excluded communities in Santa Clara County. We hope to align with grassroots organizations, community partners and coalitions local to Santa Clara County to build connection in community advocacy work.
